My Typical Monday

homeschoolerday

Hey, guys! Sorry I haven’t written these past weeks. I have literally been doing school this entire time. Anyways, today I’ve decided to post about a day in the life of a homeschooler, my typical Monday. This was suggested by two of my followers, Lisa H. and Grace J.

Typical-Monday

8:00 – My morning begins as I get dressed and ready for school. I try to open my blinds and make my bed as soon as I wake up so that I can start my day looking at the beautiful (and sometimes cloudy) sky.

8:15 – I eat my breakfast with my parents. We usually talk about the plans for the day and what we have for the week. I also check the news for highlights and conversation starters. If needed, I will also finish up some last minute homework before my class starts.

9:30 – My first class begins. I am taking a Logic course that lasts for 85 minutes.

11:00 – My hour and a half break starts. I normally check my email and, if I don’t need to finish homework, I will bake something. I love baking cookie cakes but my sisters love the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins that I make more frequently, now that it’s fall.

12:30 – My Pre. Calculus class starts and around this time, my mom brings me lunch.

2:00 – My final class for the day, French, begins. I feel that this class ends far too quickly. :)

3:30 – I’ve finally finished all of my classes, so to reward myself, I have a snack break. Sometimes, if I have time, I’ll also have a piano break. This is also the time that I tell my mom about my day. She loves hearing my stories and knowing what the teachers are teaching me.

4:00 – Around 4, I start doing my homework for the next day. My homework partner is the Christian Genre Radio or the Indie Worship playlist on Spotify.

6:00 – My sisters come home from their play practice and I greet them happy and ready to hear their stories. We sit around the kitchen island and take turn asking and answering questions before they start on their homework.

6:30 – My dad gets home from work and my family sits down to dinner. I love being able to have a meal together as a family and hear about each other’s day. Plus, my mom is a great cook and that makes dinner time a lot better. :)

7:10 – I check the news again and maybe play piano.

7:30 – I continue to work on the homework that never ends. I will take a break every now and then just to keep myself focused on the task at hand.

9:45 – Exhausted, I head upstairs to get ready for bed. I like to pick out my outfit the night before to save time in the mornings. I also take a shower at night so that I can just get up and go in the mornings.

10:30 – Unless I am absolutely too tired to read, I will read a chapter in my Bible. I am going through a reading plan on the YouVersion app called “The One Year ® Bible”. It gives you a chapter from a couple of books to go through. You can follow me by searching the username: “AbiLeah” on the YouVersion app.

11:00 – My day finally ends, as I turn off the light. I try not to go to bed any later than 11.

Thank you so much for reading! This was a great idea and I like being able to actually see my schedule out on paper (or on a blog post). I hope you have a great day and a great week!

What is one thing that you typically do one your Mondays? Let me know in the comments below. Also be sure to leave any suggestions, questions or comments that you may have for me. :)

January Favorites

Screen Shot 2016-02-04 at 8.55.39 AM

January has flown by so fast. Out of all the months, January would probably be my favorite because it gives us all a chance to change for the better. Between exam week, school, and busy schedules, it’s great to take a break and reflect on what happened the past month. So, without further ado, here are my top ten January favorites. Enjoy! :)

10. Peppermint Bark
My parents recently went on a trip and they brought back with them Peppermint Bark from Williams-Sonoma. It was eaten within a week; it was so good!

9. Music Tutor
This app has been especially helpful to me with low and high music notes. It took some getting used to in the beginning but I got the hang of it.

8. Wild Berry Zinger Herbal Tea
This is one of my favorite teas. It’s fruity and sweet so no sugar is needed.

7. The Christy Miller Book Series by Robin Jones Gunn
These books are amazing. You can really connect with Christy as you read through her life’s adventures. I definitely recommend them!

6. Anais Anais Perfume by Cacharel
This perfume is really nice. I got it for Christmas and have fallen in love with it.

5. EOS Pomegranate Raspberry Lip Balm
I love the taste of this lip balm and it works! That is if I don’t lick it all off first. :P

4. Plant Nanny (app)
Planing Nanny is an app that encourages you to drink water. You pick a plant, and every time you drink water, you give the amount of water you drank to the plant and it grows. If you don’t water the plant, it will die, so don’t forget!

3. Little Women
This book (and movies) is one of my favorites. We just finished reading it for school and so Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth needed a shout out. I always seem to learn more each time I reread it.

2. The Gallagher Girl  Book Series by Ally Carter
I absolutely love this book series. I read the first book and it was so well written and so well thought out that it inspired me to write a book of my own. This is a must read.

1. Piano Guys’ Simplified Favorites: Vol. 1
I got this piano book for Christmas and have been in love with it ever since. I am learning Arwin’s Vigil and I hope to start Moonlight very soon. And since my sister started taking cello lessons, there might just be a concert pretty soon.

This November was so much fun and I had tons of fun coming up with this month’s Top 10.

10. Apple Cider – A great apply drink to warm you up.

9. Pink Fuzzy Slippers – These fuzzy slippers warm my toes, fighting off the cold.

8. Sparkly Pens – I love pens and these pens cheer me up and keep me going through the cloudy days with their sparkly-ness.

7. Christmas Music – Who doesn’t like Christmas music?! Carol of the Bells (Piano Guys), Something about December (Christina Perri), Run Rudolph Run (Chuck Berry) and It’s Christmas (Jessie James Decker) are among my favorites during the upcoming Christmas season.

6. Two Dots (App) – A Candy Crush type game that takes you on an adventure to conquer the dots. (Get it on the app store)

5. Tennis – I started taking tennis lessons this November and I love it! I’m not the best player, but I’m learning!

4. Pink Chiffon Bath & Body Works Hand Sanitizer – Ok, I know. This isn’t a fall thing or Christmasy but it smells good. :)

3. NaNoWriMo – November was National Novel Writing Month and I got really into writing. I started a novel but didn’t finish it. NaNoWriMo was really fun!

2. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Coffee Cream – This is something for those mocha lovers (like me) This cream is super good and tastes exactly like chocolate chip cookies! I look forward to having this in my coffee every morning.

1. Warm Fires with the Family – This November, I had so much fun spending time with my family in front of a warm fire. I can’t wait to spend more time with the family during December!

What were your favorite things about November? What are you looking forward to in December?
