3 Years of Blogging

Hello everyone! Today marks the anniversary of my very first blog post. In the three years that I’ve been blogging, so much has changed not only in my life but also on my blog.

When I started blogging, I didn’t really know what I wanted to write about. With more practice and more posts, I’ve been able to find out what I like and develop my blog to how it is now. To those who have recently started their own blogs, keep it up! It might take a while for you to get it to where you like but it will be worth it. Also, don’t be afraid to take breaks. Sometimes taking a step back can give you a better picture.

I’m super excited to start this 4th year of blogging! I hope you’ll follow me along!

The Lifestyle Tag

I was tagged by An Inspired Teen from Life Of An Inspired Teen to complete The Lifestyle Tag. You can check out her blog here and her post of the tag here.

The Questions

  1. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed? ~ It depends on when I have to wake up. I’ll normally plan out an outfit the night before if I have to wake up early. If I sleep in, I just pick the outfit in the morning.
  2. How often do you change your handbag? ~ I think I’ve changed my handbag like 3 times in the last 5 years, so not often. Right now, I use my light pink shoulder/crossbody bag from the Gap which I got for my birthday two years ago. :)
  3. What time do you get up & go to sleep? ~ For school I wake up at 5:30 am to get ready to be at school by 8:00 but I sleep in on the weekends to 9:30 or later. For a while I would go to sleep at 9:30 pm but then you know, school happened and I journal and do devotions every night before I go to bed so now I end up going to bed at 11:00pm.
  4. How often & when do you workout? ~ I don’t workout as much as I would like. I will sometimes work out with my sister but otherwise, I workout three-four times a month. I’m working on it.
  5. Left-handed or Right-handed? ~ Right-handed.
  6. How tall are you? ~ 5 feet 9 1/2 inches.
  7. Do you speak a foreign language? ~ I know a bit of French, Spanish, and Dutch but I can’t speak any of them fluently.
  8. How many pets do you have? ~ There are three pets living at my house, one dog (Winston) and two guinea pigs (Oreo and Lily). Winston is a golden lab. Oreo and Lily are both black and white guineas.
  9. How often are you on your blog? ~ Every day. I don’t post every day but I do plan and write blog posts every day as well as read and follow other blogs.
  10. Do you read the comments posted on your blog? ~ Yes! Every single one! I love hearing from everyone and knowing that someone took time out of their day to say hello.
  11. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts? ~I don’t really keep a list of products. I have a list of books that I would like to read that I keep with me and add to whenever I see great books on other blogs.
  12. How did you come up with your blog name? ~ My blog name used to be Life As A Homeschooled Teen but then I started going back to school! So now, my blog name is Happily Abi. I wanted my name to reflect who I am. I also wanted my blog to be a happy place where people can feel encouraged and loved. That’s basically how I came up with the name. :)
  13. What kind of camera do you use for photographs? ~ I use either my phone or my Canon EOS Rebel T3i camera which I absolutely love!  (Click here to see more of my photography.)

Q&A – Answers

Hey everyone! So last week, I made a post asking for questions to be featured in this Q&A post and you delivered! So without further ado, my answers to your questions. :)
(Sorry it took me so long!)

From HappyAlex: “What is your favorite season?”  ~ My favorite season has to be fall. I love the way the leaves crunch beneath my feet and the smell of the pumpkin pie and apple cider. :) Definitely my favorite.

From HappyAlex: “What is your favorite thing about blogging?” ~ My favorite part about blogging would have to be the community. The people here on WordPress and on other blogging sites are all so kind and encouraging and I love that.

From HappyAlex: “Favorite seasonal holiday e.g Christmas/Easter etc?” ~ Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. I love having the family together and the cold, crisp days that come with the feeling of Christmas. But my favorite part about Christmas is decorating the tree together and remembering all of the memories and events from past Christmases.

From HappyAlex: “Favorite way to relax?” ~ For me baking or playing piano are some of the best ways to relax. Just being able to do something and get my mind off of whatever is stressing me out is therapeutic for me.

From HappyAlex: “Favorite book?” ~ My all time favorite book is I’d Tell You I Love You But Then I’d Have To Kill You by Ally Carter. It’s the first book in the Gallagher Girl series which is the series that really got me motivated to write. I highly recommend. :)

From Kody C. Krady: “Who is your favorite Bible character?” ~ My favorite Bible character is Esther. Esther cared for her people and showed great courage when she asked the King to save her people.

From Kody C. Krady: “Who is your favorite person in history and why?” ~ I have always admired Joan of Arc. I think that she was very brave to go to war for France and for standing up for her country. Even though people didn’t like her, she will always be remembered as a saint.

From HannahDestiny27: “What’s your favorite thing about being homeschooled?” ~ My favorite part of being homeschool is being at home. :) I like being able to spend time with and have lunch with my mom.

From Hannah Destiny27: “If you could choose any one new thing to learn, what would you choose?” ~ One thing that I’ve always wanted to learn is sign language. One of my closest friends is learning sign language and she loves it. I think it’s a great thing to know.

From AVeryAwkwardBlogger: “Who’s your favorite pop star?” ~ My favorite pop star is Taylor Swift. Though I like her older songs better, her newer pop songs are pretty cool too.

From AVeryAwkwardBlogger: “What would you do if you could know absolutely anything for 5 minutes?” ~ I would probably eat food and text my friends. Or read one of my favorite books during those 5 free minutes. :) Anything to get my mind off of school for the moment.

From AlaynaFayth: “Why did you begin blogging?” ~ I had been thinking about blogging for a while before I actually started and one of the reasons was because I wasn’t sure if I would have enough time to continue blogging. At some point, I noticed that a lot of my friends had started blogs and I decided that it was time for me to enter the world of blogging.

From AlaynaFayth: “Would you suggest homeschooling as an option for someone debating where to place their children for education? ” ~ Homeschooling was definitely the best thing for me but it might not be great for everyone. I suggest thinking about what kind of environment your child would thrive in. Is he more of an introvert or extrovert? Would he be motivated enough to complete his work? What kinds of things could he do to still get him out of the house? There are also lots of different programs online to ensure that your child is schooled. I hope this helped and if you have anymore questions, let me know. :)

From AlaynaFayth: “Who is your idol?” ~ I wouldn’t really say “idol” but someone who inspires me a lot would be my aunt. She is a writer just like me and has always been so encouraging. She is just an amazing person and I want to be just like her.

Thank you so much for all of the questions!
My question for you is, if you could be any cupcake flavor, which one would you be?
Let me know in the comments! :)

Unknown Blogger’s Challenge

Hey, everyone! This is the second post you’ve seen this week! *gasp* Exciting? I think so. Any who-dos. :)

I’ve been nominated by Grace2610 to do the Unknown Blogger’s Challenge. Click here to see Grace’s version of the challenge. This challenge was created by Unfashionable Cupcake. Click here to see the rules of UBC.

The Questions (Answered)

  1. Why did you start your blog?
I started this blog, honestly, because it seemed like fun and a lot of my friends were starting blogs as well. I don’t regret it. Blogging is really fun for me and is relaxing especially during exam week (which is coming up soon. Pray for me)
  2. What has been your best experience of blogging so far?
One of the things that I find really cool is the fact that bloggers are so helpful. I haven’t met a blogger that wasn’t encouraging or willing to give me tips. I love the way we are connected as a blogging family.
  3. What is your hobby?
My hobby is baking. I’ve always loved baking and have made some lists of things that I’ve wanted to bake. Spending time in the kitchen with my family is one of my favorite ways to reconnect and recharge. :)
  4. What is your favorite color and why?
My favorite color is pink. It used to be lavender but as I grew older, I started liking pink more and more. If I had to pick a shade of pink to be my favorite, I would have to pick watermelon pink. I think it’s a happy color and goes great with orange (another one of my favorite colors).
  5. What is/are your favorite school subject(s)?
My favorite subject in school is Web Design. I love typing out lines of code and then that code actually making something cool. It’s really fun!
  6. What is your favorite shop to go to?
Bath and Body Works. Absolutely. I love going with my friends and smelling all of the different lotions and candles. We can’t stay in too long though or we won’t be able to tell which scent is which but I love it. :)
  7. What is your dream for your future?
I’ve always wanted to live in a big city, right downtown in the midst of everything. I love the busyness and all of the different shops and buildings on the street. And the lights at night are just beautiful!

My Questions For You.

  1. Why did you start your blog?
  2. How long have you been blogging for?
  3. If you could ask for anything in the world and be guaranteed to receive it, what would you ask for?
  4. What is your happy place?
  5. What would you like to change about the world?
  6. Name one thing that you would like to do by next year.
