March Memories

Hello, everyone! As I’m writing this, the rain is pouring outside and my sister is playing violin. My mom is working on starting a fire and I have a big cup of tea waiting for me. Talk about perfect writing time! This past month have been filled with tons of adventures and excitement.

In the beginning of the month, my mom and my sister and I drove to surprise my sister at her first away game for soccer. It was great except we ended up going to the wrong school! By the time we made it to the right school, there were 3 minutes left in the game. Bummer! But, we were able to see my sister play for a little bit and it made her really happy that we were there, so I’d say it was well worth it! :)

On the 5th, we hosted a missionary family for dinner. The family was really sweet and had lots of fun stories about life on the mission field and their many puppies. On the 12th, there was snow but it all melted within a couple of hours. Still, it was really pretty!

The next week, I had a friend over for a sleepover. We went to the park near my house and saw a beautiful tree! (Pictured below.) While we were at the park, a little girl, about 5, ran up to us and asked us to play with her. She was so adorable and I loved running around with her on the park playground! The next day, we met with another friend and went to walk on the campus of a nearby college, getting a feel for the college-life. It was a great experience and I learned a bit of what it’s like just to be on campus.

Next came the Florida trip! My whole family spent our Spring break in sunny FL by the beach and it was beautiful! We were also able to go on all kinds of adventures including going to the Everglades. (I even made a video of it! Click here to watch it.) We got to see dolphins, birds, and aligators. A couple of days later, we went to Disney! I loved all of the rides but I especially loved the firework show at the end of the day. :) (Read the Florida Trip Travel Journal here!)

After getting back into the rhythm of school life, I focused on memorized more Bible verses. This time, I memorized Isaiah 26:3-4 which says:

You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.
 Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”
-Isaiah 26:3-4 (NIV)

Last week, my sisters and I took a spontaneous trip to my friend’s house! We spent a lot of time playing with her dog, :) but we also spent time outside making floral creations and talking about life. It was a wonderful way to spend my Sunday and it was pretty relaxing too! :)

Some Pictures from March:

That’s all! How was your March? Did you have any fun adventures? Let me know! I would love to hear from you! :)

November Favorites

Hey, everyone! How are you? November flew by so quickly! But it’s December so that’s awesome! Anyway, here are some of the things I did this month and my favorite memories. :)

  1. Thanksgiving with the family – Thanksgiving was a couple of days ago and it was awesome! My family hosted Thanksgiving lunch/dinner. My sister baked four different desserts and my mom made a huge turkey so I have lots of lucnhes for the next week.
  2.  Field Trip with my Photography class – This month I went on a field trip to uptown with my photography class. I had so much fun hanging out with all of my classmates and taking pictures around the city. (Here’s the post I wrote on it.)
  3. My writing club – I joined a writing club at my school earlier this year. I was really nervous because I don’t normally share my creative writing but the group was really kind about everything and encouraged me to continue writing.
  4. Hanging with my Acafam – This month I had a big acappella performance and it was awesome!
  5. Self Portrait project – My photography teacher challenged our class to a 21 day self portrait story. Every day we had to take a picture of ourselves that told a story of another person and how they had changed us, challenged us, taught us ect. It was really hard for me but it was a lot of fun.
  6. Christmas Tree Shopping! – Every year, the day after Thanksgiving, my whole family goes to by a Christmas tree and then we come home and decorate it all together. It’s one of the things that I look forward to every winter. But there was something about this year that made the special “tree-day” better than the past ones. :)
  7. Hobby Lobby – I stopped by Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago to pick up some things for the upcoming giveaway (!!!) and saw some really cute things! I need to go to craft stores more often.
  8. Ding Dong Merrily On High by Rend Collective (song)
  9. Jesus, Savior by Chris August (song)
  10. Psalm 1:1-3 – “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.”

How was your November? What are you looking foward to this December? (Besides Christmas of course) I hope you all have a wonderful day!

October Favorites

Hey, everyone! October has (almost) ended and I couldn’t be happier because that means that we are one month closer to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years! Yay! This month has been super busy but I have loved every little bit of it. I took some big steps and stretched myself by doing things I didn’t think I would ever do (like going to my FIRST DANCE). This month also included my 2-year blogiversary! (read more about that here)

  1. Blackout poetry – Blackout poetry was something that I found on Pinterest and wanted to try. It is relaxing to me somehow and I like making new things out of older ones so this is perfect.
  2. Getting 200 followers! – I reached 200! This makes me so happy that there are so many people that are willing to read my blog posts and take the time to listen. Many many thanks to all of you!
  3. My first homecoming dance! – I went to my very first dance a couple of weeks ago and I am SO glad I went! I was invited by two friends of mine to go with a bigger group to dinner the day of the dance but when the reservations were messed up, we decided to go together. We were also able to convince three more of our friends to go with us. We had a blast! My tip for your first dance: don’t make any kind of expectations beforehand. This helped me to relax and be flexible.
  4. Gigi’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcake – There are cookies. There are cookie doughs. And there are cupcakes. But this, this is heaven or really close to it. If there is a Gigi’s Cupcakery close to you, you NEED to try this!
  5. Posh Thomas Kinkade Painter Of Light Coloring Book – My grandparents gave this coloring book to me and I think it’s really cool. I like seeing the original picture with the coloring page.
  6. Celebrating my 2-year blogiversary! – My mother was AMAZING and cleared out her whole day just to make me a pie and decorate the kitchen for my blogiversary. (read more about my journey here)
  7. Sundress by Landon Austin (song)
  8. Alone by Marshmello (song)
  9. Yesterday’s Song by Hunter Hayes (song)
  10. 1 John 2:2 – “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

How was your October? Do you have any plans for November?

August Favorites

Hey, everyone! How was your weekend? I spent my weekend in the mountains. We went hiking to a waterfall and then had a picnic dinner. It was a lot of fun! Here are my monthly favorites for August. :)

Screen Shot 2016-02-04 at 8.58.13 AM

  1. Going back to school! – This year I made the big switch from homeschooling to private schooling and I love it! It’s been a big learning experience but I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. :)
  2. Group Me (app) – I was introduced to this app by my friends from school and it’s great. It allows you to group message people even if they don’t have smartphones or the app.
  3. More traveling I feel like every time I post a monthly favorite, I include some sort of traveling experience. This month we went to FL. (read more here)
  4. A cappella – I decided to try something new this year so I joined my school’s a cappella group. It’s super fun and a great way to meet new people. I’m looking forward to our first performance.
  5. Photography Class – This year, I’m taking a photography class. I’ve already learned so much and I can’t wait to share my pictures with you all. :)
  6. The Selection Stories by Kiera Cass
  7. Sparrows by Jason Grey
  8. Something Wild by Lindsey Stirling (feat. Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness)
  9. Isaiah 26:3 – “You keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.” (read my comments on this verse here)
  10. 1 Thessalonian 5:18 – “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

July Favorites

Screen Shot 2016-02-04 at 8.57.55 AM

July has been an amazing but busy month. My family spent two weeks with my grandparents and a couple of weeks at camps. This past month went by really fast. So without further ado, (and before the month of August passes), here are my top ten favorites from July.

10. Christy and Todd Series – I love this series. My sister got the first Christy Miller Collection Book for Christmas and we have been hooked ever since. They are great Christian books and totally relatable. My favorite book from the series is book number 3, “I Promise”.

9. “What Happens When Young Women Say Yes to God.” Devotional Book – My mom gave my sisters and me a devotional book to read this vacation and I love mine. It is a great devotional about saying yes to God and living an extraordinary life as a result of following His will.

8. Sierra Jensen Collection – Like the Christy series, the Sierra collection is totally relatable. I read both volume 1 and volume 2 and they are both great. I love reading about Christy’s friend’s life and reading the parts of Christy’s life that were left out of some of her books.

7. Puzzles – During the rainy days of my vacation, my family and I played lots of puzzles. It was a great way to get to know each other and spend time with each other.

6. Journal – I always like to remember the things that have happened during a trip or vacation. I was very glad that I remembered to take my journal with me during my two-week trip.

5. Spending Time with my Sisters – Whether it was in the pool or in the car or at home, I loved being able to spend time with my sisters. I missed hearing what was going on in their lives and just hanging out with them, something I can’t do during the school year.

4. Mother and Daughter Day Out – My mom and I were able to spend a day together and it was really nice. I loved being able to talk with her without my sisters there to interrupt us all the time.

3. Brownie Cookies – During this vacation, my family and I went to visit another family so we decided to bake cookies but instead of individual round cookies, we made brownie cookies. I made regular cookie dough but instead of scooping them, I put all of the dough into a rectangular cake pan. After the giant cookie was done baking, we cut it into individual squares. Both of our families really liked them and because the texture of the cookies was more like brownies, they were called “cookie brownies”.

2. Spending Time with my Opa and Oma – I was able to spend two weeks with my grandparents and it was really nice because I don’t get to see them very much. It was great being able to talk to them and do things with them that I don’t normally get a chance to do.

1. Seeing Turtles Hatch – This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I was so glad I had the chance to experience. The turtles were so cute and I was amazed at how they knew where to go. Click here to view the post. :)

5. Tennis – I started taking tennis lessons this November and I love it! I’m not the best player, but I’m learning!

4. Pink Chiffon Bath & Body Works Hand Sanitizer – Ok, I know. This isn’t a fall thing or Christmasy but it smells good. :)

3. NaNoWriMo – November was National Novel Writing Month and I got really into writing. I started a novel but didn’t finish it. NaNoWriMo was really fun!

2. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Coffee Cream – This is something for those mocha lovers (like me) This cream is super good and tastes exactly like chocolate chip cookies! I look forward to having this in my coffee every morning.

1. Warm Fires with the Family – This November, I had so much fun spending time with my family in front of a warm fire. I can’t wait to spend more time with the family during December!

What were your favorite things about November? What are you looking forward to in December?
