101 in 1001: A Six-Month Update

101in1001update1

It’s been six months since I started my 101 in 1001 challenge and it’s been quite the ride. I started off really well, crossing off quite a bit in the first couple of months! Now that school has started, I haven’t been able to work on as many goals as I’d like, but progress is progress and all that matters is that I’m moving forward.

Goals I’ve crossed off:

8. Go through my clothes and donate what I don’t wear (August 2018)

This goal was easy to cross off, especially during the week of packing for college. I went through every article of clothing I had and made sure to donate the ones I didn’t wear but were still in good condition.

11. Spend 15 minutes outside everyday for a month (August/Sep. 2018)

Spending time outside everyday made things relaxing and calm. I normally eat my meals outside on the patio of the cafeteria unless it’s too cold to be outside.

12. Bike somewhere (July 2018)

During our summer vacation, my family and I took a spontaneous trip to the beach for Independence Day. We biked through a small town and over many hills to the sandy beach. It was so much fun and I loved it! My favorite part was, of course, being with my family, but I also loved the wind in my hair and the smell of the salty air.

13. Go skating again (September 2018)

This goal I was a little afraid about because I didn’t want to fall and get hurt. However, falling is something that we just have to face. I went roller skating with my friends for a birthday celebration and it was a lot of fun! I hadn’t been roller skating before that, but I had been ice skating and it was pretty similar. I did fall at one point, but it wasn’t too bad!

31. Sing around a fire pit with some friends (June 2018)

This summer I visited my aunt with my family and spent the weekend with her and some of her friends. One night was all sat around a fire pit and sang songs as my sister played her ukulele. It was so nice and calming.

34. Have an early morning Bible study outside (July 2018)

There is something special about reading the Bible outside in the morning. It’s calming and quiet and makes it easier to hear what God is trying to say through His word, I think.

41. Reconnect with an old friend (August 2018)

This August I was able to connect with a friend from middle school over Instagram. She was one of my closest friends and when I left the school to be homeschooled, we lost touch. It was good to hear from her again and to know that she is doing well!

42. Start a birthday tradition (June 2018)

I have always loved the idea of birthday traditions. They always seem so much fun and a great way to have something to look forward to! My sister, her friend, and I started a birthday tradition for my sister’s birthday.

45. Take a road trip (May 2018)

My friends and I for our senior trip took a road trip to the beach. It was a great way to get away from school and the stress of preparing for graduation while also being able to hang out and talk with each other.

46. Visit a city I’ve never been to before (May 2018)

This summer my family and I went to Philadelphia to celebrate a family member’s wedding. I had never been to Philly before but I loved the city, the food, and the history behind it all! It was a nice trip and I loved seeing family.

50. Play an instrument on the beach (May 2018)

During my senior trip, my friends and I took a late night walk one night with ukuleles. There’s something calming about the beach at night and music makes it even more fun.

51. Have a picnic (June 2018)

My family invited a couple of our close friends and their families to go to the mountains with us for a couple of days. We spent one of the days hiking to waterfalls and enjoying the outdoors. This was the perfect opportunity to take a picnic with a beautiful view.

56. Go on a spontaneous trip (August 2018)

I love the beach and so does my mom, so when she had the idea to have a spontaneous trip to the beach for the day, of course I said yes. The drive was long but the hours on the beach was so worth it!

69. Have a photoshoot (September 2018)

Sometimes you just need to grab a camera and take some pictures with a group of friends. I am blessed to go to a school that has a beautiful green space which is commonly used to photo shoots by photographers around town. We followed suit and had our own photoshoot!

75. Paint on a canvas (June 2018)

Painting is something that I haven’t had many opportunities to do but I love doing. I was able to get together with two of my friends and we painted on canvas to create three individual paintings that go together. It was a great way to relax and hang out with each other.

83. Have a spa day (June 2018)

Sometimes you just need to take care of yourself and spend a day relaxing. Bath bombs, a bubble bath, face mask, and a good book make for a great day.

91. Journal every day for a month (June/July 2018)

I love journaling but it can be hard to fit it in everyday especially when days are busy. This goal was tougher than the rest in that I really needed to be intentional about the time and how I was using it. I like to journal at night before bed but that means going upstairs earlier and not falling asleep first. I am glad that I finished this goal before school because it’s a lot harder to find time to journal now that I am in college.

I’ve completed 17 of my 101 goals! How have you all been coming along in your 101 in 1001 journey? You can view the complete list of goals here for inspiration for your own list.

  4. A cappella – I decided to try something new this year so I joined my school’s a cappella group. It’s super fun and a great way to meet new people. I’m looking forward to our first performance.
  5. Photography Class – This year, I’m taking a photography class. I’ve already learned so much and I can’t wait to share my pictures with you all. :)

April Favorites

April is over and May has begun and with the days the May brings, the end of school draws closer and closer. As I prepare for this month, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what April had to bring. Screen Shot 2016-02-04 at 8.56.50 AM

  1. Drawing sessions with my sis – My sister is a great artist. She has been helping me work on my sketches. It makes for a great bonding time. :)
  2. Walks with my family – Honestly, doing anything with my family is pretty fun and the weather was beautiful so bonus! :)
  3. Faith Floral Dayspring Journal – A very good friend gave this beautiful journal to me. I am using it now for my bullet journal and absolutely love it because it has Bible verses on the bottom of every page!
  4. We Are Yours by I Am They (song) – This is such an uplifting and upbeat song.
  5. Café Mochas from Panera Bread – Yum!
  6. Painting Pottery – For my sister’s birthday, we went to a pottery shop and painted pottery. It was a very hard trying to decide which to pick out of the hundreds of items to choose from. XD
  7. Scarf from Areopostle – Don’t remember when I got it but it goes pretty great with my Sunday dress. :)
  8. Essie’s Play Date Nail Polish – It’s a super cute purple color which is also one of my favorite colors. :)
  9. todoist.com – I use this website for my to-do list. This is a big help since it has a daily goal and points.
  10. Psalms 16:11 – ““You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

April was a very busy month but it brought happiness and joy to my family and myself. What did you love about April? Let me know in the comments below! I’d love to hear from you. :)

  2. Red Lipton Tea (With Harvest Strawberry and Passionfruit) – You know it’s spring when I start drinking fruit teas. This strawberry tea is amazing and smells so good.
  3. Pretty as a Peach lotion from Bath and Body Works – I love peach lotions and soaps and this one is probably my favorite of them all.
  4. Behind the Dream (blog)
  5. Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Gelato by Talenti – I think the first time I had this gelato was at my Aunt’s house.
  6. God Is On The Move by seventh Time Down (song) – This song makes me want to jump up and dance. I love the beat and it’s a great reminder that God is still working in our lives.
  7. Spring Break (of course) – For my spring break, my family and I headed down to the beach. You can read more about my Spring Break here. :)
  8. The Selection Series by Keira Cass – My sister introduced me to this series and I loved it! I think my favorite from them is The Elite but I liked the cover for The One the most. I’m considering writing a book review on the series. Let me know what you think. :)
  9. Classy Whale’s Video “Writing A Script” – Classy Whale is one of my favorite youtubers but this video is probably my favorite of them all.
  10. Ephesians 5: 1-2 – “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

February Favorites

Hello everyone! How was your February? Mine was really fun. I got to spend lots of time with my family and friends. I loved every minute of it.

  1. Paper Mate Flair pens – I absolutely love these pens. They write like a marker but don’t bleed through most paper. I use these pens to color coordinate my planner.
  2. 1950 Royal Quiet Deluxe Pink Typewriter – Pink typewriters are hard to find but my parents found one for me and I love it!
  3. Invisible by Hunter Hayes – I just love the meaning behind this song.
  4. Long conversations with friends
  5. Bracelets from Trrtlz.com that my friend sent me – I absolutely love the bracelets! They are so cute.
  6. Pen pals – Snail mail beats emails any day.
  7. Hot chocolate on a chilly day
  8. Vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting – They were especially great since my sister made them :)
  9. Color block painting – This was really fun to do and super easy too!
  10. John 8:12 – “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””

What was something that you loved about February? Let me know in the comments below. :)

August Favorites

Hey, everyone! How was your August? Mine was spent getting ready for school and enjoying the last few days of vacation. Here are my top ten favorites from this past month. :)

10. DIY Honey and Vanilla Scrub

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to do through my craft pins and actually do them. Because it was the only “craft” that I had all of the ingredients for, I made a DIY Honey and Vanilla scrub. I love it because it made my skin really soft and smelled good.

9. My backpack

My backpack this year was from Pottery Barn and I received lots of compliments on it. You can see all of my school supplies here.

8. You Will Never Run by Rend Collective

This is one of the top songs on Rend Collective’s new album, As A Family We Go. I love Rend Collective and this song is a great reminder that God will always be with us.

7. Old Navy’s Patterned Soft Pink Floral Skirt

Early this month, I went to Old Navy and bought multiple items but one of my favorites was their soft pink floral skirt. I was about to not get it but I was glad that I did. And bonus, it is on sale now. :)

6. Garner Fructis’s Brazilian Smooth Shampoo

This shampoo really works for my hair. For “difficult to straighten hair”, like mine, this shampoo is said to be proven to reduce flatiron time. It will be interesting to see if that statement is true when I do get around to flat ironing my hair.

5. Garner Fructis’s Sleek & Shine Leave-In Conditioner

My sister uses this often and so I decided to try it. I was amazed at how smooth and soft it made my hair, even the second day. Definitely worth trying.

4. Papa Smurf Flash drive

I found this flash drive extremely helpful in my computer web design class and it is easy to find because it is different than most of the flash drives used.

3. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

My family loves these Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins. With the perfect amount of chocolate and pumpkin, these muffins are perfect for fall and for after-school snacks. You can find the recipe here.

2. 500 Writing Prompts (book)

I bought this book from Barnes and Nobles, a while back. I like it because it has some interesting prompts that make you think, such as; “Do you think ‘take it one day at a time’ is good advice? Why or why not.” and, “Do you think the eyes are a window to a person’s soul? What does eye contact mean to you?”

1. Psalm 118:6

While doing my devotions, I came across this verse. It reminded me that we don’t need to worry about anything in this world because it’s not going to matter in the end.

What was one of your favorite things from August? What are you looking forward to in the month of September? Let me know in the comments below. :)

October Favorites

Screen Shot 2016-02-04 at 8.58.59 AM

So, I’m following one of my friends’ blog: sundrysunflowers and she posted her Top 10 October Favorites. Well, I thought it was such a good idea, that I decided to copy her. :P But before I get started, I need you to click the link above and follow my friend’s blog. Now, without further ado, my October Favorites!

5) Once Upon a Time: I first heard of this show from – believe it or not – my Algebra teacher. It’s a really good show and I can’t wait until I get to season 4, where I heard Ana and Elsa are added.

4) I started Pilates workouts that I found on YouTube. They’re called Blogilates and Cassey Ho (the lady who does the videos) has a blog called, yup, Blogilates. The workouts are relaxing and cheer me up. I did “Legersizes” a couple of days ago and my legs are still sore!

3) Here In This Moment by Beckah Shae (song): I really like the beat of this song and it just gets me going! This is my favorite song. I shall play it over and over until I get tired of it! :D

2) Reese’s peanut butter chocolate spread: It tastes exactly like Reese’s! I like to dip Jet-Puffed Candy Corn Marshmallows into the Reese’s spread. So good! And in case you were wondering, no the candy corn marshmallows don’t taste like candy corn; they taste like marshmallows. :P

1) My green fuzzy blanket: My Oma got me a green fuzzy blanket do for my birthday last year. This blanket came in handy these last few days. Not only is it getting colder, my heater broke, so I’ve been using this blanket like every day. It’s super cozy and warm.

So, let me know what your favorite thing (or things) was (or were) about October! Til later. :)
